Known for it's impressive natural landmarks (a result of glaciers from the Pleistocene Ice Age) and world-class wineries, the Finger Lakes region is a singular experience.
Spanning about 100 miles wide in all, Oak Harbor is located on the eastern edge of the region between the village of Trumansburg and city of Ithaca.
With more than 20 State Parks (5 within 20 miles of Oak Harbor) outdoor enthusiasts will love the plethora of options for hiking, boating, biking and camping. Highlights of which include the 750-acre Taughannock Falls State Park whose namesake waterfall has a higher peak than Niagara Falls and the Watkins Glen State Park with it's spellbinding trails.
Juxtaposing it's natural appeal, the region is also a cultural mecca. Up first of course is the world-class wines. Recently named "America's Best Wine Region," the Finger Lakes is home to both traditional and eccentric vintners and is also home to the nations first wine trail along Cayuga Lake. With more restaurants per capita than NYC, Ithaca is just 10 minutes from Oak Harbor, is home to both Ithaca College and Cornell University.
Curious minds will rejoice to find many amazing museums and historic landmarks throughout the region including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art and the National Women's Hall of Fame.
